Four Waves will celebrate a diverse range of ddr. Residents and Irish-based artists including R.Kitt, Fears, Sunken Foal, Eomac, Sim Simma, Natalia Beylis and more.

Kicking off at the stroke of midnight on Saturday, December 12 on listen.dublindigitalradio.com, Dublin Digital Radio will host a showcase of audiovisual live streams, video gigs, conversations and more, reflecting its ever-changing, always experimental and engaging residents and friends of ddr.

It’s been one cold, harsh year for live music. In collaboration with Live From Guerilla Studios and Box Moon, we want to fill the live music shaped hole in everyone’s hearts by delivering an electrifying day of live music interspersed with specially created music videos for the occasion.

The celebration will take place between ddr.’s spiritual home of Jigsaw, Mountjoy Square, in Dublin’s North Inner City, Cork’s Rebel Reads and ddr’s studio in The Complex, also in Dublin city. You can watch it all online at listen.dublindigitalradio.com.

Expect ferocious live sets from Dublin’s favourite kitchen, genre-defying video experiments, sleep concerts and more. We want to bring you the chaotic energy of a Jigsaw night to the safety of your home with sets from R.Kitt, Sim Simma, Eliza & more. We want to bring people together (virtually at least) to support as many live music acts as we can.

Every cent we raise from Four Waves is going to the artists once we cover costs. So please, if you can, donate the price of a gig ticket (or festival ticket if you’re feeling generous). You can pick up a “pay what you like” ticket from Eventbrite or drop us a few bob via PayPal. The event is open to everyone but please do drop a donation if you can.

We’ll also be having an online music quiz on December 10 to cover costs for the day. Challenge your friends to see who is the superior music fan. Tickets will be released soon, stay tuned for details of where to get tickets, and what prizes are up for grabs.

Stay in and stay safe this Christmas and join us for some festive celebrations on December 12.

In anticipation of the launch, Dublin Digital Radio will release a compilation celebrating ddr. residents. There will be a tape and digital pre-sale release on Bandcamp on December 4th featuring tracks from Sim Simma’s Reetabix, Richie Kaboogie, Belacqua, Double Screen, Variant Crew and more.

Line Up: Fears, R.Kitt, Lolz, Sunken Foal, Eomac, Sim Simma, Henry Earnest, Ngoni Egan, Fulacht Fia, Eliza, Daisies, Natalia Beylis, Moving Still, Fomorian Vein, Mama Matrix Most Mystical and more to be announced!

Quote from the acts:

Fears (Connie Keane): “I’m so excited to be back in jigsaw with ddr. They’ve been a huge part of connecting in 2020 for me, hosting my online dance parties, stories about boyproblems, and my single launch back in Spring. Love yous x”

R.Kitt (Robbie Kitt): “Doing the radio has been so fun over the last few months, but it’s also been a constant social outlet. Shout out to everyone keeping each other company in the chat box, yis are the best. It’ll be bittersweet to be in jigsaw without yis, but I’m excited to dance in the aura of past sweaty dance sessions, so close to our memories. The scent of those nights has been in me dreams over the last few months”.

Quote from the organisers:

Cathy Flynn: “We wanted to celebrate the fourth birthday of ddr. with a splash so we have taken the plunge into the world of audio visual streaming for Four Waves. We all miss our favourite venues, so we wanted to give you all a peek inside Jigsaw as part of the party. You will also experience some video art, and live performances, and DJs sets from Cork and beyond! It is an honour to work with Decy and Natalia from Box Moon and Thom and the Guerrilla Live crew, who brought us the best live streamed gigs this year and helped us all cope with the lockdown blues. We hope you will consider giving us a donation in support of the artists involved in Four Waves – it’s been a tough year with no gigs and very little structural support coming for the arts, so Four Waves is our way of trying to give a little back to the scene which gives us so much!”

Decy Synnott & Natalia BeylisFrom the summer’s Box Moon online gigs are delighted to be involved with celebrating ddr.’s fourth birthday. Decy says: “Just like our Box Moon nights in May and June, we’re so excited to bring you some of the best, wildest, and strangest from across Ireland and we’re so excited to team up with ddr. and Live from Guerilla Studios to help celebrate 4 years of our favourite radio station. We’ll be presenting more videos and performances from old favourites, new favourites and obscure-hiding-under-a-rock-forever favourites, along with talks, videos and as much messing as we can get away with. See you in the chat box!”
