A familiar presence across Ireland’s festival and club landscape, PsyCare Ireland provide mental health and harm reduction support in the spaces where it’s needed most.

Through volunteer-led welfare areas, they offer calm, non-judgemental care to those experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, or substance-related difficulties.

The organisation will host a charity firewalk on Saturday, April 18th at Scribblestown Gardens in Ashtown, inviting participants to walk across hot coals in a fully guided and supervised experience, with a minimum fundraising target of €200 supporting their frontline services.

Mick Ledden, CEO with PsyCare Ireland, said:

“Festivals are incredible spaces for connection and celebration, but they can also be overwhelming for some people. PsyCare exists to provide a calm, supportive space when someone is struggling. This firewalk is a powerful way for people to challenge themselves while helping us continue providing that essential support.”

Led by professional facilitator Gerry Dalton, the PsyCare Charity Firewalk will take participants through preparation, safety briefings, and focus exercises before stepping onto the coals.

The event acts as a symbolic extension of PsyCare’s work in festival spaces, rooted in awareness, support, and presence, brought into a shared physical challenge aimed at raising both funds and understanding.

Gerry Dalton, Firewalk Facilitator, said:

“Fire walking is a powerful and symbolic experience, but it is safe when carried out under proper guidance, as charcoal is a poor conductor of heat. Participants are supported throughout, and many describe the experience as empowering and confidence-building.”

The evening begins with the lighting of the fire and guided preparation, before participants take on the firewalk. Friends and family can attend from 7:30pm, with celebrations, live music, and food to follow.
