On Saturday May 9th, Rory’s Birthday Party and Dublin Disco All-Dayer link up for a special event at the newly reopened Savoy Theatre in Cork.
Theo Parrish leads the bill, opening the night himself at 5pm with an extended set tracing the past, present and future of African-American dance music.
A key figure in Detroit’s house heritage, Parrish has long blurred the lines between house, jazz, soul and experimental rhythm through his Sound Signature imprint, a label built on deep, uncompromising musicality.
The Detroit icon plays an extended opening set at the newly reopened Savoy Theatre, with Sound Signature in room 1 and a second room hosted by local artists, running throughout the day.
Highlights include East West Assembly, the first Irish signing to Sound Signature, featuring Monica Blaire on vocals, alongside live shows from Ideeyah Supreme and Meftah. DJ sets come from Whodat, Pablo Fatty Fatty and Frawl, with a live PA from Shane Breen and Abbie Lee.
