It’s July 4th, American Independence Day so here’s a small spotlight on one of our favourite American DJs, Armand Van Helden.
Armand is one of the biggest DJs on the planet, and the crowd he draws week in week out at the biggest festivals and clubs shows around the globe only further backs up this statement. Once billed as the best-kept secret in house music, Armand released on labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Henry St., Logic and ZYX to name but a few.
At Life Festival last month Armand wowed a truly gigantic crowd on the main stage with a huge serving of the very best house anthems and well know classics, many of of his own such as ‘You don’t Know Me’ and ‘I Want Your Soul’, but… there’s an awful lot more to Armand Van Helden than his popular tracks with millions and millions of YouTube plays.
We’ve picked 5 Armand Van Helden tracks below which you may or may not be familiar with.
#1. We’re not going to put this list in order of our favourites, but ‘Get On The Donkey’ is the first track we’ll list…
#2. If you’re a fan of late 90’s techno this track will be incredibly familiar to you. We can’t imagine Armand still plays this banger too frequently anymore, but we do hear it from time to time, but not as much as we’d like.
#3. Armand Van Helden producing Drum & Bass probably comes as a surprise to many, but the Boston born DJ has and his remix of Monica’s ‘Ain’t Nobody’ is a truly brilliant track.
#4. It’s 1996 and it’s time to Cha Cha…
#5. You can see why Van Helden was billed as the ‘best-kept secret in house music’ with this track. It’s 1994 and on Strictly Rhythm Records, that’s a cracking combination or two powerhouses.
