Trinity College’s DJ society has invited Irish dance music royalty, New Jackson, down to their campus this Tuesday for a Q&A as part of their “Lowdown” Speaker Series.

A previous alumni of the college, New Jackson will be answering all questions related to production, DJing and the music industry, which he has been a part of for over two decades, in the Graduates Memorial Building.

The talk will be free for DUDJ members and one can apply for membership at the event which takes place from 7-9pm.

An official after party at Berlin d2 is also on the books, a continuation of their highly successful weekly Berlin Nights series, free of charge. Check out the event here.

Ever since his 2017 album From Night To Night was released on local imprint All City, the Dublin native has become one of the most recognisable faces in Irish dance music, with sets both domestically in the form of appearances at festivals at Electric Picnic, AVA and Metropolis as well as achieving the somewhat rare feat of breaking internationally, appearing on the bill at club nights in Paris, Barcelona and also a slot at the illustrious Klubnacht nights in Berghain.

New Jackson also revived releasing music under his real name, David Kitt, for the first time in almost a decade this month as well, with his “Still Don’t Know” EP. An album, entitled “Yous”, is due to be released on All City March 9th.

Previous speakers at the Phil include Nicolas Jaar and Patrick Topping, who followed up his talk last September with a memorable set at Trinity’s Pav to a crowd near the thousands.

New Jackson will also be playing a DJ set in Pygmalion later on tonight, appearing alongside resident Colin Perkins.

Listen to his live set recorded at the Boiler Room in Dublin a couple years back.
