Set to Alison Limerick’s classic “Where Love Lives,” the ad tells the story of a father reliving his youth spent in clubs after his son gifts him the record.

Titled “If You Can’t Find the Words, Find the Gift,” the commercial uses Limerick’s timeless anthem as its emotional backbone. The film centres on a father and son who reconnect through music.

Visually, the ad leans heavily into rave-inspired imagery, paying tribute to the golden age of UK club culture. It highlights how influential house music has been on contemporary life, and, for the first time, brings club culture into one of Britain’s most iconic annual adverts. For something that’s become a symbol of Christmas tradition, it feels like a cultural bridge: a celebration of how the spirit of the dancefloor is as culturally relevant as ever.

To mark the release, John Lewis has pressed an exclusive 12” vinyl edition of “Where Love Lives.” Side A features Limerick’s original version, while Side B presents Labrinth’s reimagining, a deeper, more introspective take on the house classic.

All profits from the vinyl will go to the Building Happier Futures fund, part of the John Lewis Partnership Foundation (Charity No. 1118162), which supports young people from care backgrounds.
