Warp Records mainstays and electronic music mavericks Autechre are set to play their first Belfast show since 2006 this weekend at the newly refurbished Mandela Hall, and UK techno legend Mark Broom is on support.

Few names in electronic music command the respect and awe that Autechre do. Since emerging from the North of England in the early ’90s, Rob Brown and Sean Booth have built one of the most uncompromising and visionary discographies in modern music.

The duo, known for their abstract, machine-driven sound design and boundary-pushing live performances, will be joined by UK techno stalwart Mark Broom, who plays a DJ set, and Belfast’s own S>>D (CPU Records / Icasea), performing live.

The event marks Twitch’s first party in the new Mandela Hall, following the demolition of the previous building that hosted a long list of pivotal electronic acts, including Surgeon, Optimo, Joy Orbison, and BICEP.

“This is our second TWITCH20 show as part of a year-long celebration of 20 years of parties in Belfast,” said the promoters. “To be able to bring Autechre back for their only Irish show of the Twentytwentyfive tour feels really special. They were impressed with the sound setup, but we’ve gone even further and added more bass for the night.”

Twitch’s connection to Mandela Hall runs deep; the venue was central to the collective’s story in the 2000s, hosting many of their landmark events. The promoters say this show continues their mission to keep Belfast’s electronic scene forward-thinking and uncompromising.
