A new Belfast club night is gearing up to launch next month, with Dufair claiming a space where Irish identity, soundsystem culture, and heavyweight bass music collide.
Dufair is named after the Irish word for “jungle.” The custom-built soundsystem, which has been a work in progress since 2021, was originally designed for reggae and dub sessions but has since evolved into a full-scale system engineered in the tradition of Jamaican soundsystem culture, with horn-loaded cabinets and a strong emphasis on low-frequency weight and physical impact.
Dufair traces a lineage through jungle, drum & bass, 140, and dubstep, connecting these genres back to the foundational soundsystem traditions that influenced their development and modern club expressions. The project frames itself less as a conventional club night and more as a listening and physical sound experience, where the rig itself becomes central to the dancefloor.
The debut edition will feature a lineup of selectors deeply embedded in underground bass culture, including DJ Covert (Unify Radio), Dalba (Raidió Fáilte), Robyn Wylie (Sub FM), and Undadog (Jungletrain.net), each bringing their own interpretation of high-pressure, low-end-driven music.
