Recently, Dublin lost a young promoter and devoted house music lover, Ben Kane, known to many as “Kaner”, and we spoke with his friends to share memories of his life and legacy.

Co-founding Bassline Dub with Aaron Nolan in 2024, Ben’s first event took place on 10 August 2024 at Centre Point, featuring Jansons and US Two. From that point on, he became a growing force in Dublin’s house music scene over the following two years.

Known affectionately as “Kaner,” Ben Kane was widely regarded as a warm and welcoming presence at every event. Regardless of background or experience, he made people feel included at Bassline nights, reflecting his genuine character and easygoing nature.

Having spent summers in Ibiza, he developed a deep passion for house music, which he brought back to Dublin and channelled into the city’s evolving club scene, from intimate Room 2 showcases featuring local DJs to headline events with major international acts such as MK, Dennis Quin, Danny Howard, Julian Fijma, and Job De Jong. Alongside internationally recognised artists, he placed strong emphasis on supporting and showcasing Ireland’s emerging DJ talent.

Ben passed away on 13 June 2026. He is remembered with great affection by his friends, family, fellow DJs, and the wider community, and his impact on Dublin’s house music scene will not be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
