Dublin Digital Radio will broadcast Queering the Airwaves all week in celebration of Pride 2025, stating that “this year’s edition represents one of the most diverse and dynamic editions to date.”

After celebrating the 50th anniversary of Dublin Pride last year, Dublin Digital Radio is turning its gaze toward the future. This week, the station is celebrating, Queering the Airwaves 2025 – The Digital Age, a week-long broadcast exploring what it means to be Queer online in today’s hyperconnected world.

As physical and digital realities become increasingly intertwined, so too do the lives and experiences of Queer communities. From the early days of dial-up chat rooms and message boards offering lifelines to isolated Queer people, to today’s landscape of live streaming, encrypted messaging apps, and social media activism, the internet has radically transformed how LGBTQ+ individuals connect, create, and organise.

Through an open call, Dublin Digital Radio has programmed over 15 hours of LGBTQ+ airtime for QTA 2025 spanning live talks, sonic experiments, deep dives into queer history, radical fiction, mixes to get you moving, explorations of boundary-pushing club culture and much much more.

“This year’s edition of Queering the Airwaves represents one of the most diverse and dynamic editions to date. The wide variety showcased in this broadcasting showcases the diversity and vibrancy of Ireland’s Queer community, and the role it plays in shaping Ireland’s cultural and creative landscape. From reflections on our past, to dreams of radical digital futures, this year’s broadcasting illustrates how our Queer community looks forward to the future and how we can be an integral part in shaping it for the better” – Jonathan Burke, Queering the Airwaves Programmer.
