A public march to save The Complex will take place in Dublin city centre tomorrow, as pressure mounts on the Government to intervene and secure the future of the multidisciplinary arts space.

Supporters will gather at The Complex, 12 Mary’s Abbey, at 12:15 PM on Wednesday, December 17th, before marching to Dáil Éireann to deliver the petition calling for State support to purchase the building. The delivery is expected to take place at approximately 12:45 PM.

The march follows weeks of escalating action, including a petition signed by more than 15,000 people, as artists, cultural workers and community members rally to protect a venue widely regarded as a cornerstone of Dublin’s independent arts ecosystem.

The demonstration will begin at The Complex and follow the LUAS Red Line through the city centre, moving:

  • Down the Red Line to Capel Street
  • Along the quays toward O’Connell Street
  • Over O’Connell Bridge
  • Up D’Olier Street
  • Around Trinity College
  • Along the LUAS Green Line via Dawson Street
  • Up Molesworth Street

The march will conclude at Dáil Éireann on Kildare Street, where organisers will formally submit the petition demanding action from the Department of Finance.

Alongside attending the march, supporters are being urged to email Minister for Public Expenditure Jack Chambers TD.

Organisers are urging artists, musicians, designers, performers and supporters of independent culture to attend, stressing that visibility and collective action are now critical.

“The Complex can still be saved,” organisers say, calling the march a decisive moment in the campaign. “This is about protecting cultural infrastructure in the heart of the city.”
