Efa O’Neill curates the latest instalment of Air Texture’s Place series, documenting Ireland’s electronic imprint with a 21-track compilation that doubles as a cartographic ode to community, creativity, and cause.

Released as a benefit for BirdWatch Ireland’s marine conservation efforts, the project merges local environmental activism with a sonic vision rooted in the natural world, reflecting how deeply Irish artists draw inspiration from landscape, place, and memory.

O’Neill, a cornerstone of the Irish electronic music community through her Out of Space events and radio show, has assembled a lineup that spans ambient contemplations, leftfield club experiments, modular excursions, and ghostly synth-pop. Each artist offers their own interpretation of place, not as a genre, but as a personal geography.

Rather than defining a specific theme or genre, O’Neill invited each contributor to submit music that felt true to where they were creatively. The result is a diverse yet cohesive snapshot of the electronic soundscape across Ireland.

Beyond the music, Place is part of a global series with a local focus. Each edition supports grassroots organisations, positioning electronic music not just as entertainment, but as activism. For the Ireland edition, all proceeds go to BirdWatch Ireland and their Fair Seas campaign, which works to protect the country’s fragile coastal and marine ecosystems.

Despite the variety, there’s an energy that binds it all, a reflection of the trust and creative freedom each artist brought to the project.
