Harvey McKay, Prolific Scottish Techno Producer, Has Died

It is with deep sadness that we note the passing of Harvey McKay.

Across his releases on Cocoon, Drumcode, Hardgroove, Soma Records, Perc Trax, and more and other respected imprints, McKay developed a powerful and distinctive sound that left a clear mark on contemporary techno.

McKay built a catalogue defined by consistency and impact. His name became closely associated with functional, high-energy techno that retained a sense of soul and musicality.

Over the course of his career, he worked his way into the core of the Drumcode roster, delivering multiple releases that reached the upper tiers of the Beatport charts, including three techno No.1s and nine top 10 tracks. In 2014, he was ranked among Beatport’s top-selling techno artists, reflecting both his studio output and his connection with DJs and dancefloors worldwide.

As a DJ McKay played many of the world’s most recognised clubs and festivals, including Space Ibiza, Awakenings, Ultra Music Festival, Fabric London, Drumcode Festival, Creamfields and Space Miami, as well as being known in the Scottish underground at spaces like Subclub and The Arches.

His contribution to techno will be remembered by peers, collaborators, and fans for years to come. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone close to him.
