Berlin-based livestream platform HÖR has been acquired by music services and investment company 99Solutions, marking a new phase for the influential electronic music broadcaster after a period of sustained scrutiny and artist boycotts linked to its public positioning on Israel–Palestine amid ongoing violence in Gaza.
The acquisition transfers full ownership of HÖR DOT LIVE GmbH to 99Solutions, though the company has confirmed the platform will continue operating under its existing name and editorial identity. No financial terms of the deal have been disclosed.
In a statement announcing the acquisition, 99Solutions said it intends to invest in HÖR’s technical infrastructure while expanding its wider ecosystem across artist services, publishing, bookings and partnerships. The company framed the deal as part of a broader strategy to connect music businesses with new operational and financial resources, while supporting the platform’s next stage of growth.
HÖR was founded in 2019 with a stripped-back studio-based livestream format that quickly gained a strong reputation in electronic music culture as a key discovery platform for emerging and established DJs. Its rapid rise made it one of the most visible online broadcasters of contemporary club culture.
However, in recent years, the platform has come under increasing scrutiny from within parts of the music community, particularly following criticism of its moderation policies and public statements relating to the ongoing violence in Gaza. In reaction to the debate, some artists have left the platform, while others have asked for the removal of previously released sets, adding to a broader discussion around accountability, platform governance and political positioning in electronic music spaces.
99Solutions is a Berlin-based investment and services company founded in 2023, with a focus on music and entertainment companies. Its portfolio comprises stakes in businesses in music finance and rights management, with an emphasis on building infrastructure for artists and rights holders.
With the acquisition now complete, 99Solutions says its aim is to help HÖR remain a global livestream hub while also exploring new partnerships and revenue models. It comes as a move to stabilise the position of the platform after a turbulent period, and to reposition the platform in a competitive digital music landscape.
