We’ve teamed up with BPM ahead of our Voltage event to spotlight one of Ireland’s most in-demand techno artists, Yasmin Gardezi.
Headlining the debut show in our collaborative series with BPM in Belfast, Yasmin takes on a rapid-fire Q&A—sharing her favourite past gigs, inspirations, the tracks that shaped her sound, and much more.

What’s been the most memorable gig you’ve played so far?
Probably Electric Picnic in 2022, when I had the opportunity to close the Rave In The Woods on the Friday night. It was torrential rain, and I was so worried it would affect the turnout, but that didn’t stop the Irish gremlins packing out the forest. If anything, the rain made people more feral. I’ll never forget the feelings I had looking out at the smoky lasers feeding through the tree tops and rain. I had goosebumps the entire time up there and still do looking back.
Which country is your favourite to play in, and why?
This is a tough one to answer, but I’m going to have to say Australia. I’ve had the pleasure of completing 3 tours there since 2024, and each time has been an indescribable experience. I’ve never felt more at home or welcome in a country, and the Aussies know how to send it, alongside my fellow Irish over there. My secret set at Pitch Festival this year really changed something inside of me. I’ve never had a crazier crowd and amazing feedback from a show in a long time. The turnout at 4 pm for an unannounced act on the 3rd day of the festival in the blistering heat exceeded all expectations for me. I love Australia so much, and I’m beyond excited to be back in 2026!

Is there a producer you think is seriously underrated?
Dj Ip has to be up there with one of my favourite producers at the moment. I’ve been playing his tracks in every set over the past year, and I think he’s going to seriously blow up soon.
Who would be your dream B2B?
I can’t pick just one, so I’m going to have to say two. Spfdj or Daria Kolosova. Two of my favourite queens for years! Their selections and energy are unmatched. If B3B were an option, it would be beautiful CHAOS.

What’s your dream gig you haven’t played yet?
Glitch Festival is a super special one for me. I’ve attended it for the last 3 years, so it would be a dream come true to play.
If you had to pick one track to sum up your style, what would it be?
Oh, this is a hard one as my sets take you on a journey through the genres, but if you have made it to the end of one of my sets, you would usually hear Tassid Vs Cer S.U.S.S. – Burnt Acid. I love the power and ’90s acid rave feel.

If tonight were your last ever set, what track would you close with to sign off as a DJ?
This is one of the hardest questions I’ve ever been asked. It would probably be Ayla – Ayla (Dj Taucher Remix). It doesn’t really need an introduction. Probably one of the most iconic dance tracks of my generation. Such a special one and always reminds me of Life Festival.
What’s your favourite BPM range to play?
My most comfortable range would be 145-150bpm.
