Decathlon Ireland has launched a “No Tent Left Behind” initiative that effectively lets festival-goers use a tent for the summer at no cost, if they return it on time.

Customers buy a selected festival tent, use it for events such as Electric Picnic or All Together Now, then bring it back to the store by early September. They receive a 100% refund in the form of a Decathlon gift card, meaning the tent is effectively free to use if returned as required.

The aim is to cut down on the large number of tents abandoned after festivals each year, which often end up in landfill. Returned tents are cleaned, repaired, and resold through Decathlon’s reuse programme.

Broadcaster Fionnuala Moran helped launch the scheme, which is being trialled in Ireland ahead of the 2026 festival season. The key condition is simple: return it in good time, or it stops being free.
