Juno Download has closed with immediate effect, bringing an abrupt end to one of the internet’s most recognisable download platforms for electronic music.
As of yesterday, June 1st, visitors to the site are met with a farewell message confirming the shutdown: “It’s been our privilege to share some of the most incredible music from the most amazing artists, but we’re sorry to say that the time has come to say goodbye.”
Users are told there is still “plenty of great music available” on platforms such as Beatport, Traxsource, Mixupload and Volumo, but that Juno Download is “signing off”.
Launched in 2006 as the digital counterpart to Juno Records, Juno Download became a key hub for DJs and fans of house, techno, drum & bass and UK garage during the peak years of digital downloading. While its vinyl-focused sibling continues to operate, the download store has now been fully discontinued, with no new purchases possible.
The shift toward streaming continues to accelerate. According to the Entertainment Retailers Association, UK listeners spent £2.045 billion on streaming services in 2025 alone, a 3.2% year-on-year increase, underscoring how fully streaming has overtaken downloads in the mainstream.
Juno Download’s shutdown marks the end of a familiar era in electronic music infrastructure.
