Four Four Magazine is partnering with contemporary Irish artist Leah Hewson for a limited-edition T-shirt raising awareness and support for Palestine, which is out now.

Bringing together art, music and solidarity, the project offers a small but meaningful gesture toward a cause that continues to resonate deeply within Ireland’s creative community. It feels vital to use our collective voice in support of Palestine, as calls for a ceasefire go unheeded, the violence persists, and peace seems to drift further from reach. Through this collaboration, we call on the power of expression, empathy and shared humanity in the face of ongoing injustice.

The design centres around the iris flower, Palestine’s official national flower. While the red poppy has long been associated with Palestinian resilience, Hewson chose the iris as a statement of autonomy and respect for the nation’s own symbols.

At the heart of the design sits a reimagined Claddagh, representing love, loyalty and friendship through a traditional Irish lens. Here, the hands are turned outward and upward, a subtle shift symbolising hope and openness. Within the heart, a smaller, inverted heart suggests mutual support and shared humanity, “holding our compassion for one another,” Hewson explains.

Leah Hewson is an Irish abstract artist recognised for her intricate, layered compositions. A graduate of Dún Laoghaire College of Art and Design, she has exhibited widely, including solo shows at the Royal Hibernian Academy and Hillsboro Fine Art. Her work, held in public collections and auctioned at Sotheby’s, has earned her several awards, such as the RHA Whites Award for Painting. Having completed residencies in New York, Los Angeles, Berlin and Dublin, Hewson sits among some of the country’s most revered contemporaries.

The proceeds will go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), a UN agency established in 1949 to provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinian refugees and their descendants. Operating in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan, UNRWA delivers essential services such as education, healthcare, and emergency relief. Its work includes running schools and health centres, distributing aid, and supporting vulnerable communities, with funding primarily coming from voluntary contributions by UN member states.
