This week’s Local Selection comes from one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging techno artists, KIXN, who delivers a no-holds-barred power hour steeped in the spirit of the early 2000s tribal techno scene.
Hailing from the southwest of Ireland, KIXN has been steadily building his reputation with a sound that sits on the funk-laden, percussive edge of the techno spectrum—ranging from stripped-back contemporary rollers to full-throttle, shuffled ‘90s cuts.
As co-founder of KLIQ, a grassroots collective dedicated to spotlighting the next generation of techno talent in the region, he’s become a fixture of Ireland’s dance floors, supporting acts like SHDW and Ges, among others.
The mix itself channels the raw, hypnotic energy of tribal techno’s early-00s heyday, dense, interlocking rhythms, muscular low-end, and a constant percussive force that just rises and rises. It’s a journey through hard-driven pressure and unrelenting momentum.
