Macalla is back and gearing up to celebrate the Summer Solstice on June 21st with the second edition of their unique festival, a fusion of ancestral heritage and contemporary music culture.

Unveiled this morning, the full lineup features Reclaim The Mainframe, Sacred Stone, Isibeal Ní Cheallaigh, Misha Freshin, Governess, and more.

Rooted in tradition, Macalla aims to revive the communal spirit of solstice celebrations with activities such as lighting bonfires, dancing around flames, and jumping over fire, acts believed to bring luck and protection from evil spirits. Beyond the flames, the festival encourages creative expression through art-making, altar-building, meditation, and communal feasting paired with live music and dance.

A key pillar of the event is Dúchas, a dedicated Gaeltacht space fostering the Irish language and cultural storytelling. Dúchas goes beyond language, embracing the art of wordsmithery (an bua chaint), the rich heritage of Irish music (an bua sa cheoil), and the deep-rooted connection to the land.
