Belfast-born, now splitting her time between Manchester and Lisbon, aalice steps up this week for Mix Of The Week, bringing with her an assortment of high-grade classic techno to the Paradox Podcast series.
aalice is best known for co-running Manchester’s hottest techno party, Meat Free, alongside Blasha and Allat. Closer to home, she has held stages at AVA Festival, Jika Jika Festival, and The Telegraph Building, toured internationally under the Meat Free banner Vault Sessions in the Netherlands and Closer in Milan, and also holds a residency at Manchester’s Hidden. Rooms of any size or shape? She can heat them, drive them, and close them with authority.
This latest mix is a tight, 78-minute journey through hypnotic, driving techno. From dubby, soulful textures to granular, forward-moving tools and spacey sinewave rollers, the mix is wide-ranging yet sharply focused.
aalice moves steadily without overcomplication. It’s classic techno, mixed with precision, music you don’t need to think about, and shouldn’t. It’s, for lack of a better word, proper techno in its full form. The flow is tight, the energy measured, and it lands exactly where it should: techno in its pure, modern state.
