Cailín has crafted an esteemed reputation for being an uncompromising DJ and producer who thrives on honesty, tenacious graft & analogue sounds. Cailín somehow seems totally transparent yet somewhat concealed in her nature, the vinyl only selector put’s an onus on the music & the music only, a strange rarity in techno culture in 2022.
This mix is a perfect example of what the Waterford selector is capable of at peak time at a festival. Sionna Festival came very early into the re-opening of Irish nightlife, and you can feel that from Cailíns straight the point set. There’s a stark sense of haste within the mix, yet Cailín keeps her composure throughout every mix. Racing through a multitude of tools, Cailín gives dancers a taste of the dark side.
As the mix progresses Cailín ups the tempo and the records become more and more menacing, yet it never goes too far, consistently carefully drawing the tension right back in. This is a masterclass in the harder spectrum of techno, yet only a slice of what Cailín has to offer.
