Ulster Sports Club resident CONOR SCHMTZ features as our Mix of the Week, coming in hot with an 80s-kissed house mix packed with rolling acid cuts, lush breakbeat sizzlers, and slick, sexy micro-house.

CONOR SCHMTZ is a bit of a legend around Belfast. He’s a resident at the city’s most in-demand underground club, Ulster Sports Club, one half of the duo Schmutz, and the mind behind some of the most talked-about parties in town, hosting the likes of Norman Nodge, Daniel Avery, Ryan Elliott, and more. If you haven’t already guessed, he’s got seriously good taste in music — really fucking good.

A guest mix from CONOR SCHMTZ is something of a rarity. More at home in the dark and sweaty confines of a club booth than in curated podcasts, he doesn’t often sift through his collection for this kind of thing. But when he does, he brings not just his A-game, but a deep, intuitive knowledge of records old and new, tough and tender, intense and mellow, and everything in between. This one for Inflyte sees him glide through those eclectic sounds effortlessly.

It kicks off dreamy and swirly, setting a tone that floats in and out of the mix. Conor sprinkles lush chords and meandering synth lines over dusty, swinging, sedated soundscapes and stacks of percussive goodness. But it doesn’t stay soft for long. He digs into the gnarlier end of his collection too, pulling out screwball house and techno cuts — the kind of gear someone like Danilo Plessow might reach for to properly mess with the crowd’s senses — and Conor is definitely a part of that school.

Still, the mix stays lush and smooth overall. It builds in intensity, but he walks the line effortlessly, keeping things grooving, poignant, and properly thought out.
