This week’s Mix of the Week comes courtesy of two stalwarts of Dublin’s house scene: E.T.C B2B Eric Brown, recorded live at The Grand Social.

The pair went head-to-head on August 23rd, 2025, joining forces at the Liffey Street institution in support of Ozzie Guven and Job De Jong. The recording captures two dons of Dublin’s stripped-back, rolling house sound in full swing.

Both DJs are razor-sharp selectors with years of experience, and here they effortlessly showcase their laid-back yet deliberate mixing approach. The set is comprised mostly of heads-down rolling grooves, the kind of tracks perfect for early doors or the closing stretch. On this occasion, it’s early hours, and the vibe is subtle, refined, and completely absorbing: music you don’t need to think about dancing to, because it simply pulls you in.

Blocky, swung hi-hats, thick and bellowing basslines, and shimmering synths — a well-oiled blend of elements that makes stripped-back house roll off the floor with ease. The energy is hypnotic and irresistible, drawing you deeper as it flows. Neither DJ is chasing cheap tricks or flashy points, though well-timed fader cuts and moments of tension-building do make an appearance. For the most part, this is pure refined house mastery.

Some say it’s a lost art, but when you hear two of Dublin’s finest contemporaries showcasing it like this, you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise.
