Max HeyraudBelfast’s KEEVA G recently shared the recording from her debut appearance at Tresor, where she joined Aoife’s new-faces showcase in June alongside an all-Irish lineup.
KEEVA G came out swinging, delivering a barrage of high-voltage techno that felt perfectly suited to the Berlin institution’s infamous vault. A TWISTD resident, she has been on a lethal ascent through Belfast’s techno circuit over the last couple of years, emerging alongside a new generation of DJs helping drive the city’s resurgence of classic, no-frills techno. KEEVA G embodies the ethos of Belfast’s nu-school underground: a rejection of corporate clubs and their sound in favour of community-led spaces, raw energy and timeless techno, an attitude that has defined her approach from day one.
Her Tresor debut felt like a well-deserved tip of the hat from fellow staunch classic-techno activist and Tresor regular Aoife, who curated a lineup showcasing some of Ireland’s best new techno talent. Alongside KEEVA G and Aoife, Dublin’s Ayoxli and Kerry’s Taurean completed the bill, bringing a distinctly Irish contingent to the coveted vault.
KEEVA G’s approach to the dark, cavernous Tresor space was to rattle the infamous caged booth and smoke-filled floor with an array of thundering techno cuts. From warped-out Oliver Rosemann productions to classic Planetary Assault Systems, texture-heavy Spanish techno from Kwartz and Detroit-esque futurism from Dynamic Forces, the set was built for a room that can take a battering. And Tresor on a Wednesday night is certainly a cauldron fit for the roaring rumble of KEEVA G.
