This week’s Mix of the Week comes courtesy of Dublin-based MAV666, recorded live and direct from the city’s own Index while on support duties for KI/KI.
The mix delivers a vibrant mosaic of techno and trance, bouncing through a wide-ranging arsenal that blurs genre lines and keeps momentum front and centre.
When KI/KI’s return to Dublin was announced, it felt only natural for MAV666 to open the room. The pairing makes perfect sense: both artists thrive in the space between techno and trance, where bounce, drive, and euphoria sit at the core of their sound.
Known for her versatility, from head-down, tribal-adjacent techno to big, anthemic peak-time trance, hard house, psytrance and beyond, MAV666 leans here into a hard house and trance-forward marriage, laced with flashes of baile funk. The pace is intentionally high for an opening set, but fitting, setting the stage for the even higher velocities KI/KI would later take the reins with.
Most noticeable is MAV666’s library’s cheekier, more light-hearted side. Bouncy and rolling, light-hearted yet relentless, the mix does exactly what a great opening set should: it sets the mood, locks in the groove, and flips the room in full party mode.
