Mejmi kicks off the inaugural Bastardo Electrico podcast series with an hour of sizzling sci-fi hypnosis techno, recorded live from Cork’s iconic venue The Pav just before Ben Sims.

The Galway-via-Cork artist has been an unstoppable force of late. Ever since emerging as a viral sensation, playing violin across the face of techno on social media, Mejmi has proven herself as a vital and singular artist. Now a resident at Ireland’s longest-running techno party, Bastardo Electrico, she has firmly etched herself into the fabric of contemporary Irish techno. Her latest mix, which has the honour of launching Bastardo’s new podcast series, is a true statement of intent.

It’s hard to believe this mix was recorded live; it’s razor-tight. Mejmi is locked in, layering swirling, syncopated synth sequences with pinpoint accuracy. She glides between deep, murky, warehouse-adjacent techno and sleek, forward-facing, Axis-style rhythms that define much of her current identity. It’s a flawless trip into space, with Mejmi at the helm, and The Pav, her shuttle.

The warm-up set is often debated in club culture. Some overlook it, some dismiss it, but others cherish it, and Mejmi respects it to the fullest. She builds tension from the ground up, not through raw BPM alone, a common misstep, but through control, release, timing, and precision. She knows exactly how to carve out knife-edge, teeth-grinding moments and when to let them loose like a lion from a cage. This kind of mastery usually takes years to develop, but Mejmi is already operating at a level beyond her age.
