This week’s Mix of the Week comes from Lost’s own Neacy, who stepped into the belly of the beast at Index for a three-hour set of sprawling, sun-tinged house anthems, perfectly suited to a day like this.
Neacy and Lost’s longstanding relationship with DJ Heartstring is well documented. Having backed the German duo from the very beginning, it felt only right that when the pair arrived at one of the city’s most coveted venues, one of Lost’s founders would take the reins for an extended opening set.
He begins with a selection rooted in the golden era of house and tech-house, think the peak days of District 8 and Hangar’s Discobar. Sounds in the vein of Patrick Topping, Brame & Hamo, and Folamour, before moving into more contemporary territory with artists like Gaskin, LP Rhythm, Robbie Doherty, and Meg Ward. The result is a run of rolling, functional, well-oiled rhythms that ease dancers onto the floor.
As the set progresses, Neacy gradually shifts gears. The tempo lifts, and the energy sharpens, bringing in more melody-driven hard house and trance-adjacent cuts, very much in the vein of the evening’s headliners, DJ Heartstring. From here, it’s all big drops, anthemic pianos, coiling Reese basslines, and shimmering percussion, tailor-made for the vast, cascading space of Index.
Though recorded deep in a darkened club, the mix feels equally at home soundtracking a bright, sun-soaked day, full of peak-time, feel-good anthems.
