Killarney’s SHEE featured on Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried Records Rinse FM Halloween takeover, but in true SHEE fashion, he trades the spooky rhythms for a disco-kissed house flavour, and there’s zero complaints.

Carving out a sound can take artists years of refining, honing and experimenting, jumping from one end of the spectrum to the other in search of an identity. But in SHEE’s case, he’s known since day dot who he is and exactly what he wants to do. The only difference is that, year on year, he just gets incrementally better. His filter-friendly French house sound has taken him from small basement clubs scattered across the island of Ireland to the global stage. Announced this week, he’ll be playing Tomorrowland Brasil, so you could say his approach is working.

He’s also becoming increasingly affiliated with a label that feels like a natural home for his sound: Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried Records. Having released on the label and shared the stage with UK house music royalty, SHEE’s high-octane, sample-heavy, funk-oozing sound feels like a modern-day nod to some of Norman Cook’s classic records.

This guest mix is classic SHEE: pure, unfiltered, filter-funk joy. Ecstatic chords, jackin’ and swinging drums, overdriven, squeezed vocals, all delivered with effortless elegance. It’s a classic approach, but one SHEE has spent years refining. And there’s no let-up as the mix rolls on. There shouldn’t be, either. In a world full of copycats and artists jumping from one trend to the next, be a SHEE.
