Ukrainian artist Nastia has announced she will cancel her upcoming performances in the United States and refuse future bookings until the US administration fundamentally changes its approach to Ukraine.
In a statement, Nastia criticised recent decisions by the Trump administration, accusing it of easing economic pressure on Russia, pursuing energy deals that benefit Moscow, restricting critical military technology used by Ukraine and placing pressure on Kyiv while Russian attacks continue.
“My country is fighting for its existence. Ukrainian people are being killed, our cities are being destroyed, and our future is being threatened every single day. I cannot simply continue with business as usual while political decisions are being made that weaken Ukraine’s ability to defend itself.”
For Nastia, the decision is deeply personal. With Ukraine continuing to fight for its survival amid Russia’s ongoing invasion, the artist said she could not continue performing in the US as though political developments were business as usual.
“The recent decisions by the Trump administration, easing economic pressure on Russia, pursuing energy deals that benefit the aggressor, restricting critical military technology used by Ukraine and pressuring Ukraine while Russia continues its attacks, have crossed a line I cannot ignore.”
The announcement marks a clear stance from Nastia, who says she cannot control decisions made by the US government but can choose where she performs and which policies she is willing to support through her professional activity.
“I cannot change the decisions of the US government. But I can decide where I stand, what I accept, and what I am willing to participate in. Until there is a fundamental change in US policy towards Ukraine, I will not perform in the United States.”
