Premiering at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival last year, Desire is both a portrait of techno-innovator Carl Craig and a tribute to Detroit. The documentary, set for UK and Ireland release on May 8 via Sovereign Films, will first debut at the Glasgow Film Festival with a filmmaker Q&A.
The film traces Craig’s journey from Detroit’s music scene to global techno pioneer, featuring insights from Moodymann, Laurent Garnier, Roni Size, Gilles Peterson, and DJ Minx.
The film delves deeply into the life and career of Carl Craig, the seminal Detroit DJ, producer, and label head whose influence has profoundly shaped music and culture. Renowned for his innovative, forward-thinking approach, Craig seamlessly blends techno, house, and jazz, constantly pushing the boundaries of electronic music and exploring uncharted sonic territories.
