OPEN EAR, one of Ireland’s most unique independent festivals, announces its return to Sherkin Island, Cork on the June bank holiday weekend of 2024, from May 31st to June 2nd. The festival’s sixth edition opens its doors to a wealth of new talent, rejecting the idea that festivals must be populated with the familiar.
OPEN EAR returns for its 6th edition of the festival on the June Bank Holiday 2024. The festival will continue its exploration of the fringes of experimental and electronic music communities of Ireland.
For 2024, Open Ear has announced its first public call-out, welcoming individuals who have never played live in front of an audience before, and continuing its longstanding mission to highlight up-and-coming artists. From the initial concept to the final performance, the festival will guide the artists in every step of the process. The names of the selected candidates will be announced once the new year begins.
In 2024 the festival will also commission site-specific collaborative work for the first time, open to both seasoned performers and those who are newer to live performance. This initiative will be launched in the coming weeks.
In 2024, the festival will dive deep into the world of experimental and forward-facing music, using its platform to invite a selection of artists from international communities that share similar values to those of OPEN EAR. In keeping with tradition, most artists performing at Open Ear in 2024 will be completely new to the audience, as OPEN EAR continues its non-conformist approach to music festivals.
Tickets go on sale at 10am this Thursday the 14th of December.
