Prozak – Into You [Beastwang]

Pioneering the classic sounds of two-step UK garage in Dublin over the last year, Prozak has established himself as a competent producer stacking up against some of the bigger names in the garage scene both locally and across international waters. With support from names like Conducta, DJ EZ and DJ Target, multiple appearances on ‘Rinse FM’ and a large back catalogue of tasteful garage flips, I have grown increasingly fond of Prozak’s work. His latest release ‘Into You’ on UK based label ‘Beastwang’, a feel good two-step flip of Tamia’s 1998 flavour ‘So Into You’ hit the radar two weeks ago and undoubtedly, it doesn’t disappoint. 2020 was a rocky ride, but it paved the way for producers to excel in their craft and it’s safe to say Prozak has done just that. ‘Into You’ is available now for free download via SoundCloud.

Stuart Cremin – The Pressure [Talamh Records V/A]

Last week saw the debut V/A release of the newly formed, Dublin based ‘Talamh Records’ label. The 15 track compilation is a respectable body of work featuring some of the best rising talent Ireland has to offer in modern times. Stand out artist Stuart Cremin’s track ‘The Pressure’ is a unique synth driven, euphoric techno number, that left a dark club atmosphere echo off the walls of my room after every listen. Stuart has quietly built an impressively diverse back catalogue of self-released tracks over the last 2 years since his debut track ‘Phantasy’ did the rounds, ranging from banging techno to electro, breaks and everything that lies between. ‘The Pressure’ along with the rest of this killer all Irish V/s is available now to stream on Soundcloud and to buy via Bandcamp.

Pagan – Wash Away Our Fears Ep [Forthcoming on 1

Today, Dublin based ‘Pagan’ has teased the previews for his upcoming ‘Wash Away Our Fears EP’ on London Based imprint [1Ø Pills Mate]. After being nominated for AVA Festival’s ‘Emerging Producer of The Year’ award in 2019, Pagan has been a hot topic in the Irish dance music scene, landing appearances on numerous festivals including – Life, Higher Vision, Yurt City, Barn Dance and Mass as well as receiving support from names like DJ Boring and Ireland’s own Boots & Kats. Last August saw Rossa’s first release on notorious ‘Lobster Theremin’ label, with his contribution ‘Never Known’ to their Bandcamp Day charity compilation. Today, Pagan returns to Lobster Distribution as we hear the first snippets of his latest workings. I’ve had the pleasure of listening to the EP in full ahead of its release in April and I’m blown away by what I believe to be his most impressive body of work to date.

The A’ side features the sounds of crunching breakbeats complimented with cascading 303’s in ‘Like a Fool’, thumping warehouse percussion in ‘How’s That Acid’ before concluding with the euphoric, end of the night sounds in ‘Feeling This Way’. While on the flip our listening experience features a dark, emotional blend of breaks and arps in ‘Wash Away Our Fears’ and ‘Rise’. ‘Wash Away Our Fears’ was a pleasure to listen to from start to finish and it is a testament to Rossa. The previews are available for listening now via Soundcloud and you can pre-order the full EP digitally or on 12” vinyl now on Bandcamp ahead of its release this coming April.

Mode_1 – M1M_001

Long standing Subject resident Robbie Kavanagh aka Mode_1 is no stranger to the techno frontline in Dublin with countless appearances across District 8 and Index as-well as numerous festival appearances alongside some of the biggest names on the planet including Ben Klock, Robert Hood and Dave Clarke to name but a few. As well as being one of our most credited DJ’s, Mode_1’s immense production value has landed him on renowned labels including ‘Knotweed’, ‘FiedelTwo’ and the iconic District 8 12” vinyl pressed to commemorate the closure of the Tivoli theatre in 2019. Last month saw the launch of Robbie’s latest venture, the ‘M1M’ series, debuting with a solid 4 track EP, that perfectly mimics what you’d expect to hear from Mode_1 live. The EP is available to listen in full and purchase now via Bandcamp.

DeFeKT – Don’t Stop [Winthorpe Electronics]

The undisputed king of electro returns to the table as strong as ever as he premieres the first track from his upcoming EP ‘Don’t Stop’ on All City sub label ‘Winthorpe Electronics’. DeFeKT’s last EP on Winthorpe, ‘Magnetic Resonance’ landed in late 2019 and made a serious amount of noise with arguably my favourite B’ side track of all time, ‘Split My Mind’ leaving its mark on dancefloors all over the world. The title track premiered last week via his Soundcloud and it’s packed with the tastes of Detroit electro, vibrating subs, punchy snares and vocal chops that you quite simply won’t want to stop. The analogue sounds of DeFeKT, remain unmatched as we hear the first sounds of his latest body of work, that is set to be one of the most exciting releases of the year so far. ‘Don’t Stop’ is available to pre order now digitally and on 12” vinyl ahead of its release on March 22nd via Bandcamp.
