The 242nd Local Selection Mix comes from Foxgluv boss JWY, who delivers a steamrolling hour of UK garage, two-step, speed-garage, and dubstep-kissed highfliers.

The next edition of the Local Selection Mix comes from Jowy, a Dublin-based DJ with origins in Ghana, India, and Surinam who was born in Amsterdam. The rising DJ’s introduction into the Dublin scene was through community-based workshops, which she has been running herself as her career advances. Her path began with the Dublin crew Skin&Blister, where she honed her skills.

In recent times the magnetic sector has shared the stage with industry stalwarts Bakey, Conducta, Jeff Mills, Sammy Virji, Amor Satyr, and others. During this time JWY also founded her collective She is the founder of Foxgluv, which is a platform with the aim to create a space for all, but specifically created to highlight female, non-binary, and trans creatives with a diverse range of genres and backgrounds.

JWY’s Local Selection Mix follows her appearances at Beyond The Pale and Open Ear, and she once again demonstrates her ability to lock in an enticing and jolting groove as she sprinkles glossy melodies over the top of murky UK grooves. JWY showcases her signature sound, serving up a heavy dose of UKG and dusty break patterns. The rhythms are quick and scrambling, resulting in an agile and tight-knit journey through snarling weapons. JWY is firing on all cylinders as she layers warping synth-heavy cuts, vocal chops, dubby growlers, and reesey bliss. JWY keeps her foot firmly on the gas, stopping only for brief breakdowns to give listeners a well-deserved pause and gasp for air. This one screams ‘GO’ from the first second.
