This afternoon we premiere a track from legendary Irish DJ and producer, Giles Armstrong, as he returns to Irish label, First Cut for the first time since 2018.
First Cut is a vinyl label dedicated to showcasing the huge talent we have here in Ireland, not stuck on one genre the label has covered house, techno and electro releases along the way, having previously released music from the likes of DeFeKT (as Octal Step), Esoteric Orchestra, Tapes Jamaican, Reflection Port Assembly, Giles Armstrong, Tr-One (as Themisto Man) and ambient pioneer Mick Chillage (as Initial Programs).
First Cut will celebrate their ninth release, as they welcome Giles Armstrong back to the label. Giles is a producer who needs no introduction to the Irish scene, being responsible for the legendary midweek party Electric City, which featured guests like Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos and Dave Clarke on a regular basis.
‘The Bunny’ is Giles Armstrong’s second release and follows his 2018 debut, ‘Finally’, also on First Cut. This three track EP showcases Giles’ diverse approach to production and features the woozy break beat techno of the lead track ‘The Bunny’, the left field ‘Corridor of Uncertainty’ and the gritty electro of ‘Blazed In Slur’.
Today, we premiere the lead track ‘The Bunny’, which you can listen to on repeat below, while you wait for the EP to drop later this month.
‘The Bunny’ is released on limited vinyl at the end of March (just in time for Easter!) and can be pre-ordered via the First Cut Bandcamp here.
