Max HeyraudSunil Sharpe has announced ‘Dreams of Electric Bleep’, the latest compilation on his Earwiggle label. The 8-track VA features an all-Irish collection of archived electro tracks from 1999 to 2005, as well as two release parties in Dublin and Galway in association with Culture Night 2023 at The Racket Space and Deep Sea Dweller at Aras na nGael.
The next release on Sunil Sharpe‘s fabled Earwiggle imprint pays homage to a pivotal time in Irish dance music that is often forgotten. Sunil presents 8-tracks of Irish electro from 1999 – 2005, with tracks coming from pioneering Irish producers Decal, Magnetize, Metroneem, Americhord, Phil Kieran, Takeover Sound, Chymera & John Braine.
Emerging from the ashes of Ireland’s early rave era – that had been absorbed into the vastly commercialised club scene of the late ’90s – was an oft forgotten, but exceptionally fertile period for electronic music in Ireland. Spearheaded by the then Dublin duo of Decal (later becoming the solo project of Alan O’ Boyle), nurtured through nights like Phunk City at The Funnel, Model One at Switch and at a later point midweek club haunt Electric City, an unlikely Irish electro movement was born; breeding an abundance of new labels, parties and producers hungry to make their mark.
The VA release see’s re-releases of music on Mass Transit Records, Templedog, Satamile, Neuromantek, Trama Industries, Takeover Recordings, Invisible Agent Records and Headspace Recordings.

Earwiggle host a release party in Dublin at The Racket Space on Culture Night with Phil Kieran, Decal, Magnetize, John Braine & Eliza on September 22nd. The second release party takes place in Galway with the West of Ireland’s prime electro night Deep Sea Dweller on September 30th at Áras na nGael, with lineup TBA.
