Sacha Baron Cohen is reportedly resurrecting his character Ali G for a new feature film. This would be the sequel to Cohen’s breakout film Ali G Indahouse which was released in 2002. Cohen first appeared as the character on the Channel 4 comedy shows The 11 O’Clock Show and Da Ali G Show, which aired from 2000 to 2004.
Above the Line editor Jeff Sneider said in a podcast appearance that Cohen is now working on Ali G projects. He speculated that Cohen is directing an Ali G production but it’s very secretive. Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman also reported that Cohen has been covertly working on a new film in which will see the return of the iconic Ali G character.
Cohen confirmed to GQ that he played Ali G in a live setting in Australia “Yes. I just wanted to get on stage and muck around and see what Ali G would be like with a crowd. It was really good fun.”
