Amsterdam Dance Event has just announced the third edition of ADE Arts & Culture as it continues to explore the artistic connections between electronic music and other art forms. The program’s 2023 edition will focus on contemporary artists, the positive impact electronic music has on its makers and listeners, and extending visitors horizons.

The 2023 edition of ADE Arts & Culture is starting to take form as it plays host to a wide array of cultural collaboration projects including ‘New HHHorizons’ by Het HEM and arts and music organisation Horst, to be showcased at Thomaskerk. At Bimhuis, a one-off synthesis awaits with the Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest and DJ Mary Lake blending techno and Arabic music. Boris Acket takes over De School with ‘TIJDSDUUR’, a month-long exhibition that challenges conventional notions of time, inviting musical artists Jameszoo, Helena Basilova, Spekki Webu and others to bring the works to life.

‘Rooted in Culture’ at Tolhuistuin adds to the lineup, a deep dive into the beginnings of electronic music as they relate to black history and the LGBTQAI+ community. The Melkweg Expo exhibition ‘Recharge & Revolt’ looks into rave culture as a potent political tool. The ‘Wie Danst Is Vrij’ exhibition at the Stadsarchief Amsterdam allows visitors to dig into Amsterdam’s club culture from 1980 to the present in order to celebrate the city’s unique nightlife, and the melodies of ‘River Without Banks’ will resonate in the Portuguese Synagogue, creating a hypnotic two-piano performance ambiance. Many more activities will be added to the ADE Arts & Culture calendar in the run-up to the event, with more information to come.
