Earlier this week, Jamie Behan’s Bastardo Electrico club night and label announced their return to Cork venue, The Pav, formerly Dali. Sunil Sharpe headlines the legendary venue on August 31st, bringing techno back for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The iconic Pavillion cinema building in Cork City is preparing for another reboot as a nightclub. For over 30 years, it was known as the Pavilion Bar and Nightclub, and from 2018 until Covid-19, it operated under, Dali, who welcomed a slew of revered acts including Pariah, Pearson Sound, Pangaea, Under Black Helmet, 999999999, and many more.

The seminal venue has returned, complete with its trademark vaulted ceiling, which dates back to the cinema’s opening in 1921. The space was the leading venue for electronic music, and its return follows the announcement of another rebooted space, ‘The Liquid Lounge’, which opened just above Clancy’s bar in Cork City. It originally opened in 2005, but has been dormant in recent years, but reopened in June 2024. Both venues have a late licence, which allows them to operate after 12 pm.

Legendary club night Bastardo Electrico, run by Jamie Behan, is the first to return to the venue, hosting Sunil Sharpe, Jamie Behan B2B Doiléir, and Mejmi. Following this, the Cork Party will host monthly events.

Sunil Sharpe wrote via Instagram: [On Bastardo Electro] “my longest association with any night, by a mile, and is very reassuring to see Bastardo Electro, with all its history, still in the game and pushing techno in Cork. Suddenly everything makes sense again.”
