Rising techno artist CULT will be the next to feature in our OPEN TO CLOSE series on October 26th at Cellar. Extended sets and all-night performances are crucial for a DJ’s artistic growth, but unfortunately, opportunities for longer sets are rare in clubs due to outdated and restrictive licensing laws.

CULT has emerged as a major player in the European techno scene during the previous two years. The young artist’s music is steeped in the historical subtleties of the golden years of old-school techno, but his contemporary approach draws on futuristic soundscapes, sound design, and dynamic arrangements, setting him apart from the competition.

CULT has quickly progressed from a bedroom producer to a sought-after DJ and producer, with performances at Berlin’s Aeden, Munich’s Club Rote Sonne, Belfast’s Ulster Sports Club, and Amsterdam’s Lagerwal, to mention a few. On the other hand, the prolific producer’s consistent output has landed him on coveted labels such as Molekül, Concrete Berlin, Bunkers Collective, and others, as well as regular support from industry stalwarts such as DJ Stingray, IMOGEN, Alarico, and others.

The enigmatic producer’s avant-garde approach to record production is influenced by a wide range of sources, including ghetto, rave, industrial, slinky Detroit subtleties, and more. While other artists have rested on their laurels, CULT has actively sought to carve out a radically different and dancefloor-focused sound, drawing influence from quintessential techno records and integrating his sharp-to-the-point sound, resulting in a raw and well-thought-out discography. This comprehensive approach to music composition has penetrated his DJing, resulting in a rich tapestry of products in both fields.
