Dublin-based psych-influenced punk band Dumb Posh Hippies has unveiled their latest offering: a dynamic remix album that showcases a blend of house, techno, IDM, punk, and more. Featuring remixes from artists like Jon Hussey, Tr One, Hooligan, and Pusher, the album captures the essence of the band’s journey, reflecting their early club influences alongside their present grungier sound.
In a statement to Four Four, the band discussed their influences and expressed gratitude toward the artists involved in the project. The frontman captured his pride in the endeavour in true Irish fashion, saying, “I hope I’m not coming off like a sap, but I’m just proud of what the boys came up with.”
The frontman reflected on the band’s early love for electronic music, which began in their twenties when he ran a club night called Housewerk. “Through running nights, then raves, and festivals, I made a lot of DJ/producer buddies over the years,” he explained. This rich background in the electronic scene naturally inspired the band to invite others to remix their tracks.
Influenced by iconic remix albums from artists like 2manyDJ’s and Soulwax, as well as contemporary inspirations like King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, the band decided to reach out for remixes. “We’re absolutely chuffed and proud that the lads shared their time and talent with us. There’s something for everyone on it.”
