Not many defunct clubs command as much respect and notoriety as the legendary Griessmühle in Berlin.

Situated along the Spree, the venue became a vital part of the city’s club culture and notably regularly showcased a wealth of Irish talent, including Sunil Sharpe, EMA, Tommy Holohan, Jamie Behan, Rory St. John, Cailín, and many more.

With its awe-inspiring infrastructure, Griessmühle was, and still is, one of the most culturally significant clubs in contemporary Berlin. Located in Neukölln, the club was a former grain-mill-turned-nightclub. The venue boasted two dance floors, an after-hours space, and a sprawling garden overlooking the canal.

A memorial plaque has been erected to honour its short-lived yet lasting impact on club culture. Would you like to see a similar tribute for iconic Irish spaces like The Tivoli Theatre, The Pod, Sir Henry’s, or Hangar?
