German festival MELT has announced that 2024 will be the concluding chapter after 27 years.

“We recognize that the original MELT is no longer current and cannot withstand the developments of recent years without radically altering the festival concept. It is a difficult decision, but we believe it is time to explore new paths and create space for fresh ideas.”

MELT Festival today broke the news that the beloved German music institution will close its doors as a festival after its 2024 edition this July 11-13th at its home of Ferropolis open-air museum.

MELT Festival began in 1997 and moved to Ferropolis in 1999, where it remains now. Over the years, it has received international recognition, drawing a global audience and receiving various prizes such as “Best Festival” and “Artist’s Favourite European Festival.”

The festival encourages people to attend their final year if they want to experience MELT one last time. “Experience the unforgettable vibe and feel the mystique of MELT, you are cordially invited to MELT 2024 and of course, we still have one or the other surprise ready, which we are not allowed to announce at this point.”
