Ponyhawke, one of Belfast’s most beloved queer parties, is celebrating Belfast Pride with all-day festivities at Ulster Sports Club. The lineup welcomes the highly sought-after DJ, producer, and label head, Peach, as well as Sofie K, Venus Dupree, Ponyhawke residents, and others.
Marion Hawkes and Dillon McDonnell co-run Ponyhawke. They founded the party to address the scarcity of LGBT partying options in Belfast. The party has developed from a makeshift gathering to a cult following, with regular gigs in Belfast’s dance music stronghold, Ulster Sports Club.
Marion Hawkes and Dillon McDonnell are the driving forces behind the party, having both been staples of Belfast’s music scene with each possessing outstanding resumes of past gigs, including regular appearances at the coveted AVA Festival. Marion is well-known for running one of Belfast’s top record stores, Sound Advice, which has become a refuge for diggers around the city. Marion has a long list of achievements, including appearances on NTS and Boiler Room.
To celebrate Pride Weekend in Belfast, there will be a full day of dancing, beginning with a free day party from 2pm-9pm and ending with a club show from 9pm-3am.
The evening will be headlined by peach, a Canadian-born, UK-based DJ and producer. Berghain’s Panorama Bar in Germany, De School in Amsterdam, Fold in London, and Nowadays in New York are among the clubs she has become synonymous with. She also performs regularly at major festivals across the world, including Glastonbury, Sonar, Primavera, Dekmantel, Melt Festival, Dimensions, Rainbow Disco Club, Pitch Festival, and many more.
