Max HeyraudPioneer DJ and AlphaTheta have released a new documentary titled “We Become One: The Power Of The Shared Musical Experience”.
The film traces how music unites people across borders, cultures, and time. Fronted by Berlin-based DJ, producer, and curator Kikelomo Oludemi, the hour-long film journeys through global dance music communities to unpack the science and soul behind why we gather around sound.
Filmed across Berlin, Birmingham, Los Angeles, and Detroit, the documentary blends expert insight with personal stories, offering a global perspective on music as a universal connector. Interviews include artists such as KiNK, Moodymann, and Seth Troxler, each sharing their own experiences of dance floors as transformative spaces.
Beyond artist commentary, the film also features voices from academia. Musicologist Michael Spitzer, author of The Musical Human, delves into the neurological dimension of sound: “When we’re listening to music, we are time-travelling… We don’t get that from any of the other art forms.”
We Become One is the third instalment in AlphaTheta Documentaries’ series examining dance music’s shifting landscape.
