The Complex has issued a renewed call for support as efforts to secure its building reach a decisive moment.

More than 12,000 people have signed the Uplift petition since its launch, initiated by Alternative Dublin, but the venue says further pressure is needed to persuade Ireland’s Department of Finance to back the purchase of its long-term home. You can sign the petition here.

Led by CEO Vanessa Fielding, The Complex’s board has undertaken extensive work to secure the space, including commissioning a business case from Forvis Mazars, gaining strategic funding status from the Arts Council and establishing additional funding pathways. However, none of these can be unlocked without an initial commitment from the Department of Finance.

To mobilise the sector, The Complex will host a strategy meeting on Thursday, December 11th at 5:30 PM in The Depot. Industry leaders, politicians, artists, designers, creatives and community organisers are invited to share ideas and build a unified response. Representatives from the Department of Finance and DEPR will also be invited.

The push will continue with a three-day public marathon event from December 17th–19th, featuring performances from a wide range of artists and creatives to raise awareness of what’s at stake. Further details will be announced shortly.

“The Complex can still be saved,” the team says. “It remains a vital part of Dublin’s cultural landscape, supporting artists and audiences across every art form.”
