The Lockdown Series is our latest series in which we invite some friends of ours to choose 10 tracks they feel are essential listening to get you through this lockdown and isolation period.

We’ll be bringing you the picks of some local and international names which will be sure to make your quarantine a little bit easier. These songs selected by the artists will be both a representation of what they play and what they’ll be listening to in their downtime during lockdown, a deeper dive into the minds and tastes of the DJs you love.

On this edition of the series we welcome Cork native, and Irish star Efa O’Neill to share her top isolation picks. Efa is best known for her eclectic and creative sets that combine her love for futuristic electronica with rave-era sounds. Her versatile style has lead her to play alongside a broad range of artists such as LSDXOXO, Avalon Emerson, Or:la, Sync24 & Prosumer. In addition to headliner club gigs and festivals throughout Ireland, she has made regular appearances on NTS London, Redlight Radio and Balamii. Making her international club debut at London’s Pickle Factory for the Secretsundaze crew and with more recently more international show’s including the UK and Ibiza.

Efa has also just recently had her Boiler Room Debut in Dublin on the 21st February in Jam Park along side Long Island Sound, Saoirse, Skatebard, fio fa and Prosumer. Efa is most definitely one to watch and someone we see having a massive year.

Check out Efa’s 10 essentials below!

1. SBTRKT – Wildfire
From 2011 with Little Dragon on vocals! I first came across SBTRKT at Field Day festival in London. It was an unforgettable performance of his self titled album which was a big musical influence on me. Unfortunately he was somewhat of a one hit wonder for me as I never got into any of his stuff after that.

2. SALEM – TRAPDOOR
When a friend introduced me to this track, I was instantly hooked on their ominous distorted sound, slo-mo beats and slurred vocals.

3. TSVI – Labyrinth
Stripped back percussive club music from the Italian bred TSVI. The kick on this is killer!

4. Serpent – In the Grass
Percussion is always a big factor when drawing me to a track. This one is a real percussive workout that layers multiple rhythms with primitive energy. Late night, dark dancefloor, hedonistic feels.

5. Peaking Lights – EVP (DKMNTL081)
An excellent release on Dekmantel from husband and wife duo Peaking lights. Heady electronic pop to get lost in.

6. Cyan85 – Bay Of Sampieri [VOI016]
Love this one from the Cyan85 – dreamy pads with punchy drums – a winning combo.

7. Sepehr – Contamination
This track is from the album ‘Shaytoon’ by San Francisan based artist Sepehr. It came out on Dark Entries in April and I really enjoyed the whole thing. Off centre Acid, Electro and Techno – something you can listen to from start to finish without getting bored.

8. Overmono – Daisy Chain
I remember when I heard this first I was so impressed by the energy on the low end of this track. It also has a real emotional side to it. I got to play it out once on a huge Void soundsystem and it was immense!

9. Dr.Octagon – Blue Flowers
One of my favourite Rap songs of all time!

10. lil Peep – Beamerboy
Netflix brought me here! Very good music, very sad story, stay safe y’all!
