A pillar of Belfast club culture, The Night Institute is set to open a new chapter this December.

The long-running party has announced a month-long takeover of a yet-to-be-named city venue, transforming it into a stripped-back dive bar and discotheque powered entirely by their own programming.

Helmed by two of Belfast’s most respected DJs and defining figures in the city’s nightlife—Timmy Stewart and Jordan Nocturne, The Night Institute has spent the past decade holding down a space for quality club culture in a landscape often marked by fleeting parties and short-lived venues.

The residency model for the upcoming project is inspired by European bar culture, puts curation, community and sound at the forefront, an approach the pair have been championing for years.

The Night Institute has a track record of reviving underused venues such as The Hack Club and Malone Rugby Club, consistently proving that the city has viable spaces – just underutilised ones. For over a decade, they’ve championed Irish talent over big-name guest culture.

Nightshift operates as a true pop-up: 180 capacity, heavy sound system, house, disco, Italo and afro, plus a vinyl-led bar space. The aim is simple – to show what an independent, music-driven venue can deliver and build momentum for a new permanent space in 2026.
