The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) is set to host a sold-out panel discussion next week as part of the Irish Arts and Human Rights Festival at Hens Teeth, confronting one of the most pressing issues in contemporary culture: the suppression of artistic and political expression in relation to Palestine.

Featuring Dan Lambert, manager of Belfast hip-hop collective Kneecap; Claire Mc Evoy, ICCL’s Head of Research and Policy; and Una Mullally, writer and journalist, the discussion will delve into how censorship, cultural pressure, and political sensitivities are reshaping the boundaries of free expression. The panel will explore how artists and activists in Ireland, and beyond, are navigating these constraints, and what it means for creative freedom in an increasingly polarised world.

The event takes place on Tuesday, 14 October at 7pm at Hen’s Teeth, Dublin 8, and will examine how policies of censorship, cultural suppression, and political pressure are shaping Ireland’s arts landscape.

A key focus will be on the intersection of art, politics, and Palestine, unpacking how expressions of solidarity or political critique are being curtailed within cultural institutions, and what this means for Ireland’s creative community.
