The Cork based Underground Ovation have been busy behind the scenes, as they curate a series of online workshops for DJs and producers, as they set out 6 carefully curated online and interactive workshops, ranging from live Abelton demons, to teaching how to claim music royalties.
SUO is a selection of online workshops dedicated to aspiring and established music professionals that feature a wide range of topics on the latest trends in the electronic music industry. Each workshop creates an opportunity for learning, connecting and supporting artists looking to advance their skills.
February 2020 saw the first series of workshops, however, the pandemic hit shortly after, sadly putting an end to the series. These initial workshops took place in SOMA in Cork, where local artists, collectives, creatives and club owners were invited to attend. Jason Busteed of Lefty Shades Records was invited to talk about his journey on setting up a record label while NATMAC hosted the event. Everyone connected in a relaxed environment, discussing ideas and building their network.
“The response was fantastic, so we took some feedback and planned on continuing the workshops. However the pandemic put a serious halt on things. Since the summer we have been working in the background, connecting with business, labels, artists, consultants and leaders in their field, to bring guest speakers to the new online format of workshops. Making sure we continue to support aspiring artists during such challenging times. We have worked hard to make sure the platform is easily accessible online and that the workshop content is suitable for all skill levels.”
The first series of 6 online workshops consists of topics on producing, music royalties and hardware demo’s with the leading club standard brand.

Workshops are every 2 weeks and registration opens 4 weeks prior to the workshop. Artists can pick and choose what workshops to attend due to the flexible program for the first series of 6 workshops.
Each workshop is €5 and includes the following package:

The first workshop starts with an Ableton Demo with Alt8 tomorrow [3rd Feb], 7pm BST online and is available to access from computers, phones and tablets. Registration is open and takes place from the Underground Ovation website here. Once register, an email is sent and a link is provided just before the workshop.
